There’s something special about watching a story unfold inside a place that has its own story to tell. On April 20, 2026, Rock Steady Boxers from Easton, MD gathered at the historic Avalon Theatre, a beautiful, timeless space that felt like the perfect home for Boys of Summer: Short Stop.

Super Wendy Palmer, Rock Steady coach, community builder, and all-around force of nature, filled the theater with members of her community. Popcorn in hand. Junior Mints. Raisinettes. (Because if we’re going to feel all the feelings, we might as well have the full movie experience.)

What followed was everything we hope for and more.

Laughter. Tears. Nods of recognition. Moments where people leaned a little closer to the person next to them.

Again and again, we heard the same things:“Thank you for showing this.” “This helped me say something I didn’t know how to say.” “That’s exactly what it’s like.”

That’s the heart of the Boys of Summer series, not just telling a story, but opening doors to conversations that are often hard, avoided, or left unfinished.

Missed It? You’ve Got 3 More Chances.

Rock Steady fans, we’re not done yet: This Friday, April 24th, you’ve got THREE opportunities to watch Boys of Summer: Short Stop from wherever you are: your home, your gym, your community, wherever you’ve got WiFi and a willingness to feel something real.

Bring your people. Bring your questions. Bring your popcorn (non-negotiable).

Because these stories? They’re meant to be shared.

And the conversation doesn’t end when the credits roll, it starts there.
